The international supply chains for cars are a logistical challenge. Anyone who has ever seen a car transporter in the port of Hamburg can imagine that the delivery of finished vehicles all over the world takes up a lot of space – and that costs money. The Swedish start-up Luvly does not want to get involved and is launching the Luvly O, a small electric car that comes to the customer according to a different principle. Because the company comes from Sweden, the Ikea comparison is obvious.

Because the Luvly O comes to the customer in individual components – or almost. Because if the small company has its way, it wants to ship vehicle sets that are only assembled by regional partners in the vicinity of the buyer. According to the Spanish daily “El Pais”, this enables Luvly to stuff a single container with 20 vehicles instead of just parking four finished cars in it.

This project, the small dimensions and a rather spartan equipment make the Luvly O a really cheap city car. The vehicle will measure 2.7 x 1.53 x 1.44 meters and weigh less than 400 kilograms. The top speed is said to be 97 km/h, and the Swedes state the range at 100 kilometers. The small car also offers space for shopping: 267 liters of trunk volume are planned.

The rather simple vehicle is said to be available at market launch from 10,000 euros. When it comes to the battery, Luvly is also pursuing a slightly different strategy, wanting to use interchangeable modules that could theoretically be replaced with fully charged batteries at a changing station during operation. A similar principle is also used by other manufacturers, such as Gogoro or Nio.

However, Luvly is still very reluctant to give details on the company website. It is not clear when the vehicle will come onto the market, nor whether there will be the stations mentioned. Interested parties can register without obligation for further news.
