The actor has already expressed in a variety of ways that Hugh Grant (62) is not on good terms with the British tabloid press. He is currently taking legal action against the publisher News Group Newspapers (NGN), which also owns The Sun. According to Grant’s massive accusation, employees of the newspaper had arranged for his apartment to be broken into in 2011 in order to listen to him and thus obtain private information.

According to media reports, Grant had now confirmed these allegations on the witness stand at a hearing before the London High Court. The front door of his London apartment was lifted from its hinges in 2011. Accordingly, his landline connection was bugged and his cell phone was hacked on behalf of “The Sun”.

Private detectives have also been put on him. One of them finally presented Grant with evidence for his allegations last year – these are bills that are intended to clearly prove that “The Sun” was involved.

Meanwhile, the other side said that the star’s claims were not true and that Grant was too late to go to court with them anyway – in Great Britain the maximum period for this is six years. After the hearing, the competent judge should decide promptly whether there will actually be a trial.

Grant is certainly not alone in his fierce allegations. Prince Harry (38), who is taking legal action against the publisher NGN, also reports similar machinations by the “Sun”. His phone was also tapped to get sensitive information from his private life.

About ten years ago, Grant had already sued NGN for illegal wiretapping and was right. His newspaper “News of the World”, which has since been discontinued, was ordered to pay compensation in an unknown amount.

Prior to Brexit, Grant also spoke to EU officials, urging them to enact legislation limiting the influence of media moguls like Rupert Murdoch, 92.
