Arsenal FC celebrated an important victory in the fight for the football championship. The Premier League club beat Chelsea 3-1 (3-0) and took the lead again, at least temporarily.
Captain Martin Ödegaard scored twice (18th/31st minute), Gabriel Jesus (34th) scored to make it 3-0 before the break. Nonso Madueke’s goal to make it 3-1 (65′) no longer put pressure on Arsenal.
Leaders Arsenal now have 78 points, while Manchester City have 76 points. However, the second in the table has played two games less and will play against West Ham United on Wednesday.
German international Kai Havertz only came on as a substitute at Chelsea in the second half. The top scorer in manager Frank Lampard’s team didn’t have much of an opportunity to score, failing in injury time from long-range by Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
