A man died in a hunting accident in Moorgrund, Thuringia. On Sunday morning, the 57-year-old was in a forest area in the Wartburg district between Waldfisch and Etterwinden on the ladder of a raised hide when a shot accidentally went off his gun, as the police in Bad Salzungen announced. The bullet hit the hunter, fatally injuring him.
When the man from Bad Liebenstein later did not appear at a meeting point, a fellow hunter looked for him and found the body of the 57-year-old. It is still unclear why the gun was triggered, a police statement said on Sunday. The Suhl criminal police are investigating the course of the accident.
