A pair of mountaineers threatened to fall 50 meters in the Alps in the Berchtesgaden district and was rescued by the mountain rescue service. The 18-year-old and the 17-year-old climbed a steep gully on the southwest side of the Watzmann on Sunday, as the Bavarian Red Cross announced on Monday. Contrary to their plans, they could not get out to the side. They then dialed 911. On the phone, the couple described how they were running out of strength and clinging. A helicopter then flew with two mountain rescuers to the spot near Ramsau near Berchtesgaden at an altitude of 1400 meters. After the two were secured, they were brought down to the valley one by one. The 17-year-old suffered abrasions.
