Who does not know that? Especially now in summer you drink a cool beer or a glass of wine in the evening. That’s so refreshing. But for athletes, alcohol – even when consumed in moderation – can quickly have a negative impact on performance. Scientists are not yet unanimous about exactly where the limit is. It is also very individual how much alcohol everyone can tolerate. What is certain, however, is that women should drink less alcohol. Because of the lower body mass, the higher fat percentage and the lower enzyme activity (alcohol dehydrogenase), the female body can only break down alcohol more slowly than the male one.
