Old rocker Ozzy Osbourne (75) accuses US rapper Kanye West (46) of using his music without his consent. West had asked for permission to use part of a live performance of the Black Sabbath classic “Iron Man” from 1983 without singing, the British rock musician wrote on the online platforms X (previously Twitter) and Instagram.
West was denied permission “because he is an anti-Semite and has caused untold heartbreak for many people.” Nevertheless, the US musician made use of it at an event to mark an album release this week.
“I don’t want to be associated with this man!” Osbourne raged. West did not initially respond to the allegations on his social media accounts. Rolling Stone reported that the guitar riff from “Iron Man” can be heard in West’s song “Carnival.” This was also shown by online recordings of the event criticized by Osbourne.
Kanye West, who has long called himself Ye, has repeatedly made anti-Semitic comments in recent years. He asked for forgiveness for this at Christmas. “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintentional outburst of anger caused by my words or my actions,” the rapper wrote in Hebrew on Instagram at the time. It was not his intention to hurt or degrade people and he regrets any pain he caused.
