Charges have been brought against two more people following the fatal shooting at the Super Bowl parade in the US state of Missouri. As the responsible public prosecutor’s office announced, the defendants are two adult men from Kansas City. They are charged with, among other things, manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon. The defendants attended the parade armed, according to court documents. A verbal argument was followed by shots fired “without regard for thousands of people.”
Both men have been in the hospital since the incident, said the responsible public prosecutor Jean Peters Baker at a press conference, as US media consistently reported. Baker also announced that there could be further arrests in the coming period. Last week, two young people were charged with weapons offenses and resisting the police in the case.
A woman was killed by gunfire on February 14th on the sidelines of a parade honoring the victorious Kansas City Chiefs football team. More than 20 other people were injured, including children and young people. For many Americans, the fear of gun violence is a constant companion at large events.
