The fourth season of the comedy series “Only Murders in the Building” is getting another prominent face. As “Variety” reports, Eva Longoria (48) will play a recurring role in the new episodes. Exact details about the former “Desperate Housewives” star’s character are not yet known.
There were previously reports that Meryl Streep (74) would also return to the new season. The Oscar winner joined the main actors Steve Martin (78), Martin Short (73) and Selena Gomez (31) in the third season. She played the unsuccessful actress Loretta Durkin. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series.
Molly Shannon (59) also joins the cast as a tough businesswoman from Los Angeles. The actress became known as a member of the comedy troupe on “Saturday Night Live”. She has also appeared in numerous films and TV series.
What exactly the new episodes are about is still being kept under wraps. All that is known so far is that the season will begin with a trip to Los Angeles by the three unlikely podcasters, ex-TV star Charles Haden Savage (Martin), ex-Broadway great Oliver Putnam (Short) and chick Mabel (Gomez). before returning to New York.
“Only Murders in the Building” is showing in Germany on Disney. The first season of the humorous crime series written by Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman (47, “This Is Us”) and John Hoffman premiered in 2021 and became a real surprise hit. She has been nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards, among others.
The comedy series tells the story of three neighbors in an apartment building in New York – all passionate true crime fans. When a resident of their house is found dead, the three immediately believe it is a murder and begin to investigate on their own and share their findings with the public in a podcast. They uncover all sorts of secrets and bizarre conspiracies within their home.
In the third season, Charles, Oliver and Mabel investigated a murder behind the scenes of a Broadway show that was supposed to give Oliver his comeback. But then the main actor, Hollywood action star Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd, 54), is murdered.
