The 19th season of “Germany’s Next Top Model” has a new twist – for the first time, men are also represented in the show and are fighting for victory. This could bring a breath of fresh air into the fashion world. There are enough role models: These are the most successful German male models:
Hanover-born Johannes Huebl (46) was long considered one of the most sought-after male models in the industry. While he was still studying in Hamburg, a modeling agency took him on. Over the course of his career, Huebl has appeared in campaigns for Hugo Boss, Ungaro and Ralph Lauren, and modeled for brands such as Calvin Klein and Dolce
Lars Burmeister (39) is also internationally successful. At one point he was considered one of the highest paid male models in the world. The Hamburg native was the face of numerous campaigns and graced the catwalks in Milan, New York and Paris. He has also appeared in numerous magazines such as “Vogue” and “Cosmopolitan”. Burmeister also works as a personal trainer and runs his own fitness club in his hometown.
André Hamann (36) was born in Oberhausen and from Vienna he finally made his way internationally as a model. He landed jobs for Hugo Boss and Calvin Klein, among others, and co-founded his own fashion label in 2014. In 2016, André Hamann was seen in the eleventh season of “Germany’s Next Top Model”. There he looked for a model for his label with the help of Heidi Klum (50). He is followed by around 900,000 subscribers on Instagram, where he also showcases his skills as a yoga teacher.
Reality star Nico Schwanz (46) is probably well known to TV viewers. His career began primarily as a model: in 2003, the 46-year-old, who was born in Thuringia, won a modeling competition and then worked for s.Oliver, among others. From the beginning, he was also present outside the fashion industry: In 2003, Nico Schwanz appeared as a guest judge on the casting show “Star Search”, where he evaluated Bill Kaulitz (34). As a contestant on the show “I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!” Nico Schwanz became known to a wider audience in 2009. He took third place on the RTL show. His other TV appearances include “The Summer House of the Stars – Battle of the Celebrity Couples” and most recently the announced Amazon Prime Video show “The 50”, which starts on March 11th.
Mario Galla (38) also had a dream career: in 2007 he was discovered by a model scout in Hamburg – shortly afterwards he worked for Hugo Boss. Galla appeared in glossy magazines and walked in fashion shows by international designers, especially in Milan and Paris. He also appeared on the game show “Global Gladiators.” Things have been quiet about his modeling career lately; he mainly publishes outdoor content on Instagram.
Tim Schuhmacher grew up near Karlsruhe. Today he is considered one of Germany’s most successful male models. He walked the catwalk for Prada and has modeled for major fashion brands. He was also the face of Prada men’s perfume Luna Rossa and appeared in campaigns for Bottega Veneta. He has also worked for Louis Vuitton.
