Multi-talented and cult figure Rocko Schamoni (57) is the focus of a new streaming series in the ARD media library. The strange “Rocko Schamoni Supershow” from ARD Kultur is a mixture of talk, reportage and mockumentary in four parts and starts this Friday.
The fictional plot: Entertainer, author, director and musician Rocko Schamoni is at the end. His tour is selling worse and worse, and Schamoni’s strenuous years as a “cult rock band” are clearly noticeable. His manager Gereon Klug therefore resorts to the last resort: contacts. Celebrities from Rocko’s address book should help fill the halls again. Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, Joy Denalane, Linda Zervakis and Charly Hübner decide at short notice to upgrade the “Rocko Schamoni Supershow” for one evening.
Four episodes tell how Rocko Schamoni spends the day before the actual show with them. Each episode takes place in a different city – Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg – and there at special locations. Charly Hübner reports at the counter how he jumped 18 meters into the depths for a “crime scene”. It actually fell on a buffer of numerous boxes – and yet the whole thing still went terribly wrong. All episodes can be found in the ARD media library and on ardkultur.de.
The script exaggerates real life on tour and was written by Rocko Schamoni, Gereon Klug, Michael Köppel and Matthias Grübel, who also directed the film. The “Rocko Schamoni Supershow” is a production by Superfilm for ARD Kultur.
