Ellie Goulding and Caspar Jopling’s love lasted eight years, four of which they were married. After speculation about problems in the relationship, the two officially announced their end to love at the end of February. The singer and the art dealer met at a dinner. After three years of dating, an opulent wedding in New York followed in 2019, with high-profile guests such as Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom as well as members of the royal family such as Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.
The official separation will take place in February 2023. In the separation statement, Goulding emphasized that she and 32-year-old Jopling separated “some time ago” but that they remain friends and are raising their son together. The 37-year-old felt almost forced to make the public statement because the rumors and speculation that the two of them were ending their relationship were rampant at the time: “In view of the recent stories, I feel like I have no choice but to tell you all that Caspar and I separated privately some time ago. We are still the closest friends (…),” she wrote.
Although the singer asked for privacy at the time and wrote: “We are committed to protecting our family’s privacy and thank people in advance for respecting our wishes – we will not make any further comments. Thank you x.”, but the pain the heartbreak seems to overwhelm her too.
Last weekend, Goulding shared white text on a black background in her Instagram story. She gave her followers an insight into her current mental state and wrote: “Solidarity with everyone who feels sad as hell today. Tomorrow will be better.”
