Frederik X (55) has been King of Denmark since January 14, 2024. The royal family has now announced how he will spend his first birthday as king. On his special day on May 26th, Frederik will appear in public.

“His Majesty the King will turn 56 on Sunday, May 26, 2024. To mark the occasion, His Majesty and the Royal Family will appear on the balcony of Frederik VIII Palace of Amalienborg Palace at 12 p.m.,” it said Notice. On the king’s birthday, the Royal Body Guards will wear red dress uniforms and will carry out a grand changing of the guard on Amalienborg Palace Square at 11:50 a.m., it said.

It was not announced which family members would accompany Frederik X. He has been married to his wife Queen Mary (52) since 2004 and has four children with her, Crown Prince Christian (18) and his siblings Princess Isabella (16) as well as the twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine (both 13). The couple will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on May 14th.

What is certain, however, is how Frederik’s mother, the late Queen Margrethe II (83), will celebrate her 84th birthday on April 16th. “The 84th birthday of HM Queen Margrethe on April 16, 2024 will be celebrated privately at Fredensborg Palace,” the Danish royal family also announced. The Danish military band, the Royal Life Guards Band, is also scheduled to give a small concert in the palace courtyard in connection with the changing of the guard at Fredensborg Palace.

On January 14th, the long-serving Queen Margrethe II abdicated and Frederik followed her to the throne.
