It must have been an important moment in the life of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s 15-year-old child. At the memorial service for Garner’s late father, which was broadcast live on Facebook, Fin walked up to the lectern and introduced himself with a new name: “Hello, my name is Fin Affleck. I’m reading from the book of Proverbs chapter 16, verse 8: ” Better is a little with justice than a big income with injustice.'” Affleck wore a dark suit to match the sad occasion, a tie and close-cropped hair.
Garner and Affleck, who have been divorced for six years, have three children together: daughter Violet, Fin and son Samuel. Fin Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s non-binary child Emme have had a close friendship for some time now. Lopez, who is now married to Ben Affleck, made Emme’s new pronouns public during an appearance in 2022.
Jennifer Garner’s father’s funeral was the first occasion for Fin Affleck to publicly introduce himself with a new name. On April 1, Jennifer Garner posted a tribute to her late father on Instagram. “While the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life is not a tragedy, I know that grief is inevitable and waits around unexpected corners,” she said.
“There is so much to say about my father – my sisters and I will never finish talking about how wonderful he was, so bear with us – but for today I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and “The brilliant man, father and grandfather that he was and the loving legacy he left behind,” said the 51-year-old.
