A start has been made. Porsche has opened its first charging lounge near the A60 / A61 autobahn triangle near Bingen am Rhein. Here, the drivers of an electric model have six hyperchargers with a charging speed of 300 kW and four 22 kW chargers at their disposal to make their own electric model stronger again. But it will not stop there, because at the beginning of next year the maximum charging speed on the DC chargers is to be increased to 400 kW. “Porsche is pursuing an ambitious electrification course. In 2030 we want to deliver more than 80 percent of our vehicles fully electrified. This ambitious ramp-up requires a powerful and dense fast-charging network,” says Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche. “The exclusive Porsche Charging Lounges make an important contribution: barrier-free, modern and sustainably designed, they complement the Ionity network.”
Audi has been successfully offering its charging hubs for a long time. While charging your own vehicle, you can relax in the charging hub, have a rest, have a drink or work thanks to WiFi. The offer in the first Porsche Charging Lounge near Bingen looks very similar. In addition to sanitary rooms, there are snacks and soft drinks that can be paid for by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The loading lounge is heated and air-conditioned with a heat pump and part of the electricity consumption is fed in via the photovoltaic system on the roof.
The charging process is billed centrally by Porsche – for currently a very competitive 0.33 euros per kilowatt hour. If the license plate is stored in the Porsche ID, the barrier opens automatically with the help of license plate recognition. Alternatively, the customer can access the location and the lounge via the Porsche Charging Card or a QR code from the Porsche app.
