Jürgen Klopp has denied Liverpool FC’s alleged interest in soccer superstar Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain. “We laugh about it,” said the German coach, according to the portal “The Athletic”.

Mbappé is a really good player. “But the financial conditions don’t suit us,” the 56-year-old clarified.

“I don’t want to ruin the story, but as far as I know there’s nothing to it. Unless someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me,” Klopp continued. But that would be the first time in the eight years he has been at Liverpool.

Media had previously reported that in addition to Liverpool, Chelsea and FC Barcelona were interested in loaning Mbappé. The PA news agency cited sources close to PSG. Accordingly, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly wants to bring the 24-year-old striker to Stamford Bridge for a year.

Another year of contract with PSG

Mbappé is under contract with PSG until the end of the coming season and could then change for a free transfer. He had declared that he did not want to extend the French capital club beyond that. Since then there have been numerous speculations about the future of the superstar. Mbappé is said to have already agreed with Real Madrid on a move in the summer of 2024, meaning he could move to another club for just a year.

Whether FC Barcelona has a serious chance of signing Mbappé given the rivalry with Real Madrid is questionable. Still, the Spanish champions are aiming for a loan deal, according to information from PA. In exchange for the Frenchman, Barça would offer PSG one or more players in exchange.

According to reports, those responsible for PSG continue to hope that Mbappé will move to Saudi Arabia. Most recently, the Saudi club Al-Hilal is said to have offered a transfer fee of 300 million. According to media reports, Mbappé has refused to move to Saudi Arabia.
