It must be a good three years ago now: I am bending over my right big toe with my mother, a wise old pharmacist. Me: It’s kind of weird, the edge of my nail (that’s the free part of the nail that doesn’t lie directly on it) has changed. It’s gotten bigger towards the sides, two triangles have formed there… But that’s not a mushroom, or what do you think? Her: Nah, that doesn’t look like a mushroom. It’s not discolored or thickened at all.
