Most curious were the symptoms that the patient reported to us after she came to the emergency room in the ambulance. Around midnight, the approximately 60-year-old had noticed that she could no longer swallow properly and could no longer articulate words. Her legs felt increasingly weak – eventually she could no longer stand. She complained of shortness of breath, a dry mouth, and her upper eyelids drooped. Above all, she was very nauseous and suffered from severe abdominal pain.
