A new pension system will, according to France’s prime minister meet women. But the reform also raises criticism.
The French government presents Wednesday a major reform of the pension system, there must be more uniform than the current one.
– the Time has come to build a universal pension system. We propose a scoring system. The system will be the same for all, says the French prime minister, Édouard Philippe, at a press conference.
Until today there have been 42 special arrangements for everything from sailors to ballet dancers. They earn each to the pension in different ways.
the Retirement age should on paper continue to be 62. But there will be clear economic advantages to be two years longer in the labour market, says the prime minister at a press conference.
The big winners in the new pension system will, according to Philippe be women.
In France is the women’s pension in the average 40 percent lower than men’s, but with the reform will be taken into account, women’s maternity leave and special consideration for single mothers.
the Reform, there has been foreshadowed for some time, are not in the good land of all the French.
Public officials have the last seven days been on strike against the new system, and trade unions have called for more protests 12. and 17. december.
Efforts to raise the retirement age to 64 years, in practice, is the fault of unions, calling the reform “a gift to employers”. They want it scrapped.
the Strike and the demonstrations have included togansatte, school teachers, lawyers, and truck drivers. Also the hospital staff and police officers have been on the street to demonstrate.
– We will have to stop the strikes, which affect millions of people, says Édouard Philippe at the press conference.
However, the French government respond to certain industries – including soldiers, firefighters, prison guards and police officers – with the right to go earlier in the pension.
– I will confirm that the internal security forces, who are exposed to hazardous work, will retain the right to early pension, says Édouard Philippe.
The new pension system should be sent to the vote at the end of February, says prime minister.
