Demand for the long-distance bus and train platform Flix increased significantly in the first half of the year. 36 million people used the group’s offers, as Flix announced. That was more than 50 percent more than in the same period last year. The most important market remains Europe: Here the number of passengers rose by three quarters to around 24 million.
The company is best known for the green Flix coaches. In Germany it is also active in long-distance rail transport with the Flixtrain brand and is one of the few competitors of Deutsche Bahn there. In the USA, Flix took over the long-distance bus brand Greyhound two years ago. According to information, around five million people traveled there via the platform in the first half of the year.
Sales increase
Overall group sales rose by 54 percent to 860 million euros. Profit before taxes, interest and depreciation (Ebitda) was 26 million euros. “We are on track in all segments and were able to significantly expand our offering in many markets in the first half of the year,” said co-founder André Schwämmlein.
Flix does not operate its own buses, but acts as a platform through which the trips are booked. The trains and buses belong to other companies that work with Flix.
