Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, were recently in Germany. On the occasion of the Invictus Games they paid a visit to Düsseldorf. As the Portuguese magazine “Novagente” reports, the trip to Europe wasn’t over.

Although Meghan in particular often returns to the USA very quickly after traveling, the two are said to have taken a short vacation in the Alentejo region in southern Portugal. The timing was good – because the two children, Archie and Lilibet, stayed at home anyway.

“Novagente” writes that the trip only lasted four days and was carried out like a “top secret operation”. The paper names Melides as his exact whereabouts. It is located around 130 kilometers south of Lisbon and impresses above all with its endless beaches and unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean. The village is eight kilometers from the beach and around 1,500 people live there.

It is said that the destination was chosen on the recommendation of Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie. She is said to have spent several months in the region and is correspondingly enthusiastic about the area.

It probably also helped that Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, works for the private luxury resort “CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club Resort” near the village and was able to make the choice of accommodation easier for the two of them. The Daily Mail suspects that the Sussexes may have met with Harry’s cousin there.

When asked, Jose Santosy, head of the Alentejo Tourism Authority, confirmed that Harry and Meghan were indeed there. He is happy about the promotion of his holiday destination and told the Daily Mail: “For us it is an international recognition of the great tourist quality that Alentejo has today, especially the coast, which is undoubtedly important for its potential, its exclusivity and its beauty will soon be one of the most important coastal destinations in Europe.”

According to the report, the two of them returned home on September 20th.
