A civic initaitve has demanded it, the Eglinger municipal Council decided: The District of Neufahrn will be completely closed to traffic.
Neufahrn success for the Neufahrner citizens ‘ initiative: The complete Eglinger District is Tempo-30-Zone. The municipal Council decided in its latest meeting, with a clear majority of 18 votes to 2. “Our commitment has paid off,” says the Initiator of Jacob Degele the result. “The Tempo-30-Zone was a concern of many Neufahrnern.” Council Heiko Arndt, also from Neufahrn, spoke of a “historic decision”.
In the past years, there were always Attempts to reduce the speed. Ultimately, the councils back troubled, always in front of it, as there is for the former regime of good arguments. So is rolling through Neufahrn as good as no through traffic. Jakob Bern Lochner (FW) pointed out: “The analysis has shown that the accident happened there is completely unobtrusive, to the neglect of the tempo overruns.” Peter Lichtenegger (CSU) spoke of a “luxury debate”. The Zone brings, in his view, no great gain in safety, “because you can’t actually ride even faster”. The village road was too confusing.
At around 20 intersections, and junctions would change the traffic rules, explained Arndt. Alone at the Neufahrner main street 13 the new Law would-to-left situations. “This is certainly strange,” commented mayor Hubert Oberhauser. Just for the farmers, the new rules were not “safe best”. Nevertheless, nothing to speak of legal action against the Amendment, explained the city hall chief. This was the result of a traffic display with the district office, the police and the State Department: “As we have all the advantages and disadvantages discussed.”
That all over the place now, the speed limit is 30, is mainly due to the citizens ‘ initiative, which has submitted a list with 208 signatures. In a village of 563 inhabitants, this is “huge,” said Arndt. This also oberhauser looks so: “46 percent of the over 18-Year-olds have voted in favour of Tempo 30 in place. Without such a clear Statement, the decision would have been possibly different.“

He was satisfied with the result, commented Degele the decision. Together with the municipal councils, he had a discussion about whether there is in Neufahrn another possibility to reduce the speed of motorists. “But we have not found a good result.” Degele also advocates that the Zone starts behind the junction of Church road/Celtic road: “In the Right-before-left of the intersection would be hard to see when you drive out of the place out.”
