Osnabrück (dpa) – The Star Trek actor George Takei recommends a greeting from the series classics in real life. “I use the Vulcan salute as a Form of Social Distancing,” said the 83-Year-old in an Interview with the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”.

“I shake no hands. If someone extends his, I raise my Hand, spread your fingers, and say: Live long and prosper. This has such an important meaning, in every respect: long live and grow.”

In the 60s series “starship Enterprise” (original title: “Star Trek”) was Takei as helmsman Sulu on Board and became world famous. The series he sees as a Symbol of diversity, because on the Enterprise men and women from all continents at eye level, worked together, or because there was a kiss between a black woman and a white man.
