The speech remains more or less the same. On 20 may, Geneviève Chêne, director-general of public Health of France (SPF), reported that no reversal of the epidemic had been reported, but a plea for caution. A month and a half later, Jerome Solomon, the director-general of Health, there is a new warning in the columns of the daily Le Figaro. The doctor also details such as the French health authorities are attempting to curb the epidemic, while about 500 people are tested positive every day.
In fact, if 29 933 people died in France since the beginning of the epidemic, it is the spectre of a second wave that now alarmed the population but also the authorities. Professor Eric Caumes, head of the department of infectious diseases at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in paris, has already warned of the “great laxity” French. However, to Jerome Solomon, the caution is, however, the key to hinder a return of the epidemic. “This is essentially our behaviors that affect the recovery of the epidemic : if we want to avoid this, it is necessary that each and every employee continues to comply with the measures of barriers, measures of hygiene, distancing physical and wearing a mask, especially in crowded and in a confined space”. However, he points out that it is now necessary to “prepare for a resumption of the epidemic, or even a second wave”.

Testing and tracing
in the Face of what seems to be presented as an inevitable, Jerome Solomon defends the strategy put in place by the health authorities. While there are currently 86 clusters in France, a part of the strategy implementation is to “break the chain of contamination when a person is sick”. This is made possible, in particular thanks to the 2 000 people trained by health Insurance. “They contact by phone with patients to identify with them all the people they have been able to cross contaminate.”

at the same time, these are, of course, the tests occupy a major role. 300 000 PCR tests are performed per week, for a total of 2 million since the beginning of the déconfinement. For the week of 22 June, the positivity rate is 0.92 % (excluding French Guiana). “This means that we test an average of 107 people per positive case. This exceeds the goals of the scientific Council, and shows that we test extensively in relation to the situation of the epidemic”, points out Jerome Solomon with the Figaro. If the situation had to change, several measures could be put in place : “the local information, the protection of the most fragile, the strengthening of barriers, consider measures of travel restrictions”. An arsenal that will be deployed depending on the severity of the situation.
