The police in Western Pomerania, is searching for a rabid motorists to have caused on the island of Rügen, a rear-end collision, and then fled. A police spokeswoman said on Tuesday in Stralsund, drove in the accident on Monday evening on state highway 96 near Scharpitz four cars into each other, four people from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg were injured.
The speeder is overtaken by the other vehicles on Monday evening, just before a road narrowing, in spite of a restricted area, and then suddenly, abruptly slowed down. Then the man stopped, and then re-throttle. The first following vehicle have yet to be able to brake. The three cars then drove into each other.
The 43-year-old female driver of the last car, which originates from the island of Rügen, was seriously injured. Two other drivers and a passenger at the age of 17 to 20 years, were slightly injured. To two cars the damage was total. The Federal highway 96 – the main traffic axis on the island of Rügen – was locked in Scharpitz, not far from the mountains for several hours. The police are investigating the Unknown, among other things, on suspicion of hit-and-run.
