Jonathan Wignall will be released from prison in the latter part of this year, but Ruth, an ITV presenter, says that she won’t allow him to ruin her new life.
Ruth Dodsworth, ITV Wales’ presenter, has been denied early home release. However she is still working to get him out of prison in the next year. Jonathan Wignall was sentenced to prison last year for coercive behavior. Ruth Dodsworth is still trying to find the positives in her life and is eager to help others.
Ruth spoke out about her experiences in abusive marriages and coercive control ahead of Thursday’s airing of a new documentary.
She spoke out about her fears and said that she still struggles with the idea of a man who I had spent 20 years with, and with whom I was close for a long time, in prison. This was not what I had in mind. To be fair to the police, they have pointed out that I didn’t put him there. With his behavior, he’s made himself into a problem.”

“My fear is that the judge said to him when he first sentenced him, ‘You are a danger to your ex-wife’ and children and that you were evil. What will one year in prison do for a man who has been living his entire life with these behaviour patterns? Although I would like to believe that things have improved, he has never shown any remorse.”
“And so, my concern is that he will emerge a far more dangerous individual than he was when they went in. I’m really afraid about him coming out. But I want anyone in a similar situation to know that you can have a happy and fulfilling life.
Ruth spoke out about Wignall’s abuse campaign and how she wanted to help others after Wignall was sentenced to prison. In her efforts to help others going through similar experiences, she has spoken out many times about her own experience. She also spoke out about the time her children warned her not to return home as Wignall threatened to kill her.
