Unicaja Banco announced this Monday that it will carry out the technological and operational integration of Liberbank into Unicaja Banco over the next weekend, a process that is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday the 20th and end on Monday may 23.
These are works that “will allow full integration from a technological, commercial and operational point of view, resulting in a more powerful and efficient unified technological platform, with greater capacities and safety and quality standards in all service centers and channels of Unicaja Banco”, the entity has maintained through a statement.
Likewise, it has pointed out that once the integration of the systems materializes, the entity will operate “fully” as a single bank under the same distribution platform, which will allow the unification of the systems to access a homogeneous and reinforced catalog of products and services , as well as the attention and functionalities of all distribution channels, such as branches, ATMs, digital banking –web and mobile application– or telephone banking, among others.
The integration will be carried out “with maximum security, protecting the data and positions of clients from Liberbank who are the object of this action, and having as one of its main objectives to avoid the impact on clients, who will not have to carry out any to adapt their products to the new platform”, the press release emphasized.
Once the technological integration is complete, Liberbank origin digital banking via the web will be automatically redirected to the Unicaja Banco website –www.unicajabanco.es–. In addition, customers from Liberbank will be able to access or download Unicaja Banco’s digital banking mobile application, using the same access codes that they had up to now. “This process will not affect customers from Unicaja Banco”, he assured.
On the other hand, the entity has highlighted that Liberbank origin customers “have the necessary information about the process, previously provided by Unicaja Banco, through the usual channels and supplemented by mechanisms such as answers to frequently asked questions about temporary operational outages of some features and services, which will be restored in the shortest possible time”.
These interruptions, he insisted, “will not affect customers from Unicaja Banco, who will be able to continue operating normally. Nor will they affect customers from other entities that operate at any Unicaja Banco ATM.” In this sense, he pointed out that in terms of the main operations that could be affected by these temporary interruptions to customers from Liberbank during the weekend, there are, for example, Liberbank’s digital banking –web and app–, which “It will cease to be operational as of 3:00 p.m. this Friday.” Once the integration is complete, it will be possible to operate again, already in Unicaja Banco’s online channels, through the website www.unicajabanco.es or by downloading Unicaja Banco’s digital banking mobile application, using the same access codes that Until now.
Also, with respect to Bizum and immediate transfers, they will no longer be available in Liberbank digital banking from Thursday 19, at 3:00 p.m. However, it can be used normally again in Unicaja Banco’s digital banking after completing the technological integration.
As for ATMs, the entity has pointed out that clients from Liberbank will be able to continue to have cash normally, “but the updated balances and movements will not be seen in the account until the integration is complete.” The same will happen with the cards, since customers will be able to withdraw cash and make payments in stores or through the Internet, but the balances will not be updated until the integration is complete. The latter will not require a change to be made to the Liberbank cards or their numbering or PIN. They can continue to be used until they expire, renewing automatically with the image of Unicaja Banco, the statement specified.
The products contracted with Liberbank will automatically change their assigned number, without the customer having to carry out any additional action, including direct debits, which will continue to function as before.
In the case of client pension payments from Liberbank, as has been the case, the amount continues to be advanced free of charge up to three business days before its official payment by Social Security. Even if the client does not see the payment of the pension in the account until the last business day of the month, they can make free cash withdrawals at ATMs and branch windows, card payments, charge loan installments and transfers, in addition to paying direct debits up to the total amount of the pension.
Unicabaja Banco has stressed that this technological and operational integration process is “a natural milestone” with which the merger process with Liberbank materialized on July 30 culminates, and that “it involves the generation of synergies and the creation of value for customers and shareholders”. In addition, it allows the entity to have a more powerful and efficient unified platform, with best practices and reinforced security standards, thus enhancing its commercial and digital transformation strategy.
Unicaja Banco is a benchmark entity in six Autonomous Communities, where it has more than 1,200 branches, more than 2,600 ATMs, and more than 4 million customers. It is present in 80% of the national territory, maintaining its status as a reference entity in Andalusia, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León and Extremadura, in addition to being present in other markets such as Madrid, Ceuta and Melilla, where maintains a traditional presence.
