A chemical accident at the La Presa de Manises water treatment plant (Valencia) has forced the evacuation of nearby homes located within a radius of 300 meters and the establishment of a safety zone against the risk of chlorine emissions, as reported by 112 on Twitter. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

It happened this Wednesday afternoon, when there was an accidental mixture of chemical elements in a storage area of ​​the plant. The production of water has not been affected, according to the Metropolitan Entity of Hydraulic Services (EMSHI).

The Emergency Control Center of the Generalitat has mobilized supplies from the Provincial Consortium Fire Department. Specifically, two fire departments and three command units have been dispatched, which have intervened in some valves with the collaboration of company technicians.

EMSHI technicians have proceeded to pour soda to control the PH. For its part, the Manises City Council has activated the Municipal Territorial Plan.

At 5:47 p.m., 112 has reported that the Fire Department, in collaboration with the Civil Guard and the Manises Local Police, have requested to evacuate 100 meters around the site of the chemical accident to establish a security zone. Subsequently, the perimeter has been extended to 200 meters and the adjacent homes have been evacuated preventively, in the La Presa urbanization.
