Quebec police found the remains of an individual whose cause of death is still unknown, along the St. Lawrence River, Friday morning.

Very little information is currently available about this macabre discovery. It was a citizen who contacted the authorities, while the body was floating in the water.

When the police arrived, the body of the man was on the bank, near the intersection of boulevard Champlain and Côte de Sillery, not far from the Sillery pier park.

“At our level, we are investigating to find out if there could be a criminal impact in this case,” explains David Pelletier, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ).

A security perimeter was established in the area and forensic identification went on site to establish the causes and circumstances of the victim’s death.
