A 22-year-old girl invented a bomb threat on April 27 at the Ezeiza airport (Buenos Aires), to try to delay the flight that her boyfriend was going to miss. The woman, a resident of the province of Santa Fe, was driving her partner, who was late to the terminal, in her car. In a panic, she phoned the airfield’s customer service and, thinking the call was anonymous, she claimed that she herself had left an explosive device in one of the bathrooms.
The couple has been charged with “public intimidation”, which could result in a sentence of between two and six years in prison. In addition, they will have to pay the costs of the alert they generated, which amount to 200,000 pesos (9,379 euros).
“In the international terminal I just left a bomb in a backpack. It’s a homemade bomb made by me. In the bathroom. I am fed up with this government », she said in her conversation with the operator, according to Infobae. The Call Center of Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000) received this false warning last Wednesday, April 27 at 9:55 a.m., and reported it to the Airport Security Police (PSA), which in turn notified the Federal Court of First Instance in Criminal and Correctional Matters of the locality.
The threat of this woman, whose identity has not transpired, caused the anti-terrorist security protocol to be activated, with the participation of the Special Group for the Control of Explosives and Special Weapons, the Ministry of Health and firefighters. The flight, initially scheduled for 12:45 p.m., finally took off at 10:10 p.m., allowing this boy to arrive on time.
The phone with which the call was made, which belonged to him, IK, was intercepted by the police services, and from there they were able to identify him, according to information from Infobae. He is a 31-year-old doctor who also lives in Santa Fe, and who traveled on a flight to Bogotá (Colombia) that day, after having missed the other one in the morning. She, L.V., was spotted by airport security cameras, which has made it easy to find out who she was.
Finally, his mobile phone was confiscated and his home was searched, where they found nothing related to bomb material, but cannabis plants, which apparently are for medicinal use and the man prescribes them at work.
