Aprilia, which on Thursday announced the renewal of its two official riders, Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, has reached an agreement with the Malaysian team RNF Racing to have four motorcycles during the 2023-2024 biennium. The Italian team announced it this Friday at the Mugello circuit. Starting next year there will be four Aprilia RS-GP competing in the MotoGP category, following the agreement reached, valid for two seasons and renewable for another two years with which, for the first time in its history in the category, Aprilia will have a team satelite.
After the positive start to the 2022 season and the confirmation of the official team riders Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales for the next two years, the agreement that will allow Aprilia’s motorcycles to double on the track is one more step on the path of growth, both technical as well as organizational, which the Noale competition department has set itself as an objective.
The head of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola, acknowledged that he was “happy to announce the agreement with RNF Racing”. “We have always reasoned in baby steps and as we demonstrate the competitiveness of our RS-GP, a natural part of the journey is to see two more bikes on track. The Noale racing department is a true heritage of knowledge, technical culture applied to high-performance motorcycles, as well as sports management, and with RNF Racing we found a partner to promote and enhance this extraordinary heritage, although of course we think of the pilots and in greater competitiveness, but also in training new generations of engineers, technicians and managers”, explained Rivola after reaching the agreement with RNF Racing.
Razlan Razali, from RNF Racing, also appreciated the agreement: “Our philosophy remains to work together with the factory team to develop the riders who will one day become Aprilia factory riders and we will help them in the development to guarantee that we remain competitive and ultimately that we win with Aprilia Racing.” He added: “Aprilia Racing’s proposal meets our long-term plans, strategies and safety for the next two plus two years and I must thank Aprilia Racing for their trust and faith in us, as we are absolutely excited about the coming season and with this new partnership. “At the same time, we want to express our gratitude to Yamaha for these past few years of working together and growing together, and nonetheless we will remain focused on working hard this season to improve our results together with Yamaha and conclude 2022 on a high note.”
