Around 400 students from CM1 & CM2 will take part in this year’s Traversee de La Drome a velo. It runs from May 30 to June 3. This is the 28th annual edition of this amazing cycling and eco-citizen excursion, which was co-organised by Usep Drome (the sports union for primary education) and National Education with the support from the Department.
From north to south, 18 classes representing 14 schools will need to travel 220 km to rally Hauterives and Buis-les Baronnies. The schoolchildren will have four stops along the way (Romans Crest, Taulignan, Grignan, and Crest) to eat as they explore the wonders of the department.
Marie-Pierre Mouton is the president of the Department. The TDV has many objectives: To make young people aware about road safety, teach them cartography, how to maintain a bike, and to encourage effort.
Marie-Pierre Mouton smiles, “It builds character. Apprentice journalists will also be taught to schoolchildren. The Radio mega team and four schools will be hosting live broadcasts. 250 adults will be there to supervise and coordinate the activities.
Over the years, over 15,000 schoolchildren participated in TDV.
