The Departmental Council of the Dordogne will release, mid-June on its website (1), the comprehensive list of activities, visits, and free outings for the summer season, continuing a winning formula that was already in place in 2021. Germinal Pereiro, its president, said that this is a way to see the negative mental representations that give Perigord “a reputation for being an expensive tourist destination”.

Beyond the four bodies of water managed by the Department (Saint-Estephe, Rouffiac in Angoisse, La Jemaye and Lake Gurson in Villefranche-de-Lonchat), all the curiosities (viewpoints, walks, gorges of the ‘Auvezere, hiking trails, etc. There will be a mention of it. Germinal Pereiro explains, “I asked the Departmental Council for assistance in identifying at least one place worth visiting per canton.” For example, the Moncalou tower in Florimont–Gaumier. It affords a breathtaking view of the Pays de Domme.

The file is willingly eclectic and was created to be addressed to future visitors as well as Perigourdins who often miss out on the heritage or landscapes of their respective departments. Is it not true that the Dordogne has more than 9,000km of maintained hiking trails?
