Firefighters and Emergency personnel, together with divers from the Civil Guard, are looking for a young man who tried to swim across the Crevillente reservoir (Alicante), as reported by the Armed Institute and the “112 Comunitat Valenciana” service.

The missing person, 26 years old and of Colombian nationality, had gone to the spot with his romantic partner and two other relatives, one of whom did manage to reach the other shore of the swamp, about 25 meters away. When he turned to look for his relative, he no longer saw him.

The aquatic tracking tasks are very difficult at the moment due to the lack of visibility, since the water is very cloudy, in an area about five meters deep, in which swimming is prohibited.

The Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat received on Sunday night the notice of a fisherman requesting the rescue of this person.

A helicopter and the fire rescue group of the Diputación de Alicante were initially mobilized to the area. In addition, a Red Cross psychosocial care team went to the scene to support the family of the disappeared person.

This morning the mobilization of the Red Cross care team has been reactivated at the request of the Civil Guard and the Crevillent City Council to care for relatives.
