Ajofrín, Mazarambroz and Villaminaya participate in this 1st Monteña Tapa Route with the aim of disseminating their rich and traditional quality products with a good pairing of local wines. The gastronomic festival will be held over two weekends to give the possibility to make the tour: June 3, 4 and 5 and 10, 11 and 12, 2022 by the different participating establishments.

During two weekends, visitors to these municipalities will be able to taste tapas made with local products from the Montes de Toledo area and with culinary preparations to spread their gastronomy.

The prizes for the public in this first edition will be six batches of quality food products from Montes de Toledo and a dinner for two people in a restaurant in the region.

To be eligible for the prize, you must taste and vote for the different tapas at a price of 2.5 euros from the different participating establishments.

The contest will consist of the preparation of a cover whose recipe will be traditional and made with products from the Montes de Toledo. The foods that will be used are those that are obtained from agriculture and livestock in the area. They are natural foods of the highest quality, often produced and obtained by hand or produced locally. You must participate with one tapa per establishment in the award modality for the best monteña tapa made with natural products.

There will only be one prize, which would participate in the award category for the best cover. The first prize would be given to the cover with the most votes. The sponsors will award the prizes, the first being a badge indicating the prize awarded and the details of the winning establishment.

The participating restaurants are in Ajofrín: Bar Chavos, Mirador, Bar Hostal Jalisco, Restaurante La Farola; in Villaminaya: La Alkería and the Hogar del Jubilado and in Mazarambroz: La Vereda terrace.

One of the greatest attractions of the Montes de Toledo region and therefore one of its main resources is its rich gastronomy, solidly based on hunting products. Game dishes (pickled or stewed partridge, rice with hare, potatoes with rabbit, venison in sauce, wild boar, roe deer) and roast lamb are shared with ratatouille, gazpacho, porridge or oxtail.

Along with these, the dishes linked to grazing stand out, such as the migas and the gray soups, wisely finished off with pan desserts and marzipan.

In the region of Los Montes de Toledo, a thriving food industry has been developed thanks to the production of high-quality sheep cheeses and sausages, which are combined with the oil of the cornicabra variety with its own designation of origin.
