Abadía Retuerta is one of the Spanish wineries that has best managed to integrate tradition and modernity. With centuries of history behind it, the most important events are reflected in its walls and vineyards. The history of its white wine for aging is the result of an accident, when unexpectedly finding vines of white varieties among the red ones. An arduous investigation and years of tests were necessary to achieve its first vintage, which is now ten years old.
With the premise of longevity, its main percentage is Sauvignon Blanc, a variety with great aging potential, and a percentage of Verdejo that provides freshness and fruit. It ferments and rests for more than seven months in French oak barrels, which gives it its great skeleton without sacrificing aromatic complexity.
The 2020 vintage was marked by a very hot summer with days of extreme heat, however, the month of September was not excessively hot, with rain as the protagonist.
Conceived to last, its aromatic palette includes citrus and stone fruit, with a background of sweet spices, being a wine of great complexity that, however, will win in the bottles of those patients who know how to wait.
