The City Council of Palencia and the company Turisocio will launch guided ‘city tours’ through a fully electric minibus to discover the city, in a tourist offer that will come into operation from Wednesday and will last until September 15. Lasting approximately one hour, the tour will run through the town center and reach the riverbank to see its bridges, with stops at the Cathedral and the Water Museum.
The alternative will allow in a “quick, fun and comfortable way to get to know the most emblematic areas of the city”, assured the Councilor for Tourism, Laura Lombraña. It is a small bus, with 13 seats, easy to use and very comfortable that will become one of the “main attractions for tourists and for the residents of the city”, says Ical.
The presentation detailed that there are very few vehicles with these characteristics in Spain and those that do exist are in high demand, so getting this service up and running in Palencia has meant “a lot of effort on the part of the company that is going to manage the service and the Department of Tourism.
The electric minibus will be operational from Tuesday to Sunday and can be boarded at 11, 12 and 13 hours, in the morning, and at 16, 17, 18 and 19 hours, in the case of the afternoons. The purchase of tickets can be made online through the Turisocio, Tripadvisor and Civitatis websites and physically on the bus itself.
For those under two years of age, access will be free, while the price will be three euros for those between the ages of two and eleven. The rest of the users of the service must pay a price of six euros.
This initiative is linked to the promotion and use of non-polluting energy with ecological transport and the reduction of noise in the city center. In this way, the City Council “takes another step in the commitment to sustainable transport and to expand the portfolio of products in the city that will improve the experience of tourists,” the mayor remarked.
