Although the Giants have yet to decide who will call their offensive plays, Mike Kafka, the offensive coordinator, has given some insight into how he might approach the job in the fall.
Kafka worked for the Chiefs when he was a player and shared his knowledge with Andy Reid about the importance of having “something the defense didn’t see in their breakdown that you know would force them to communicate.” Kafka also stressed the importance of working closely with quarterback Daniel Jones to find what he enjoys in the offense.
Kafka already knows that Jones loves having flexibility at the line-of-scrimmage and that he gives the offensive players the freedom to make their own decisions.
Kafka stated, via Ted Nguyen, TheAthletic.com. “I’m in a press box, or whatever it may be, and those guys are the ones on the field. They have to go play, so they need to ensure that they are on the same page.
Jones is also being worked with by the Giants to reduce turnovers, which have plagued him for three years. This would increase the likelihood that Jones will remain with the Giants in 2023.
