The Big Week of Corpus Christi recovers after these two years of pandemic the programming of the Wednesday before. This Wednesday, June 15, will begin with the city’s floral offering at the Puerta de Reyes of the Cathedral with the participation of educational centers and how many Toledo men and women join this event that will include the mayor, Milagros Tolón, and with the Archbishop, Francisco Cerro, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The day will continue with the symbolic act of opening of the city at six in the afternoon at the Puente de Alcántara, where the rake of the tower will be hoisted, an original piece restored months ago by the Toledo City Council and the Montemadrid Foundation; while at 7:30 p.m. the announcing parade and the parade of giants and big heads will begin with ‘La Tarasca’ accompanied by the music bands Unión Musical Benquerencia, Ciudad de Toledo and the Banda Joven ‘Diego Ortiz’.

The cavalcade will depart from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to tour the streets and squares of the processional itinerary: Cardenal Cisneros, Sixto Ramón Parro, Plaza Mayor, Tornerías, Martín Gamero, Cuatro Calles, Comercio, Plaza de Zocodover, Sillería, Alfileritos, Plaza de San Vicente , Alfonso X El Sabio, Plaza Padre Juan de Mariana, Alfonso XII, Rojas, Plaza del Salvador, Trinidad and Arco de Palacio.

The processional race will be inaugurated at 10:00 p.m. with the parade of the pertiguero accompanied by the Municipal Corporation and other public authorities and representatives of the social and cultural life of Toledo, together with the mayors and mayors of the Network of Alfonsíes Cities and Towns on the occasion of the VIII Centenary of the Birth of King Alfonso X the Wise. On this occasion, a representation of the Castilian-La Mancha Federation of Folklore Associations (Fedefolk) will parade dressed in traditional clothing from the province of Toledo.

The visit to these traditional architectures of the Historic Center will continue every afternoon of the Big Week until Saturday, the 18th, at the same time. For Wednesday night before Corpus Christi, the City Council has scheduled the concert ‘Los 40 Pop Toledo-Corpus 2022’ on the Paseo de Merchán stage, next to La Peraleda Park, with a concert by Dani Fernández and performances by Slow , Pilar Moxó, Miki Núñez, Ainoa Buitrago, Lérica and Agoney, presented by Toni Aguilar. Finally, the day will end at 00:00 hours with a great fireworks display by the ‘La Sagreña’ pyrotechnics from the esplanade North of the Alcazar.
