The Association of Hoteliers of Playa de Palma on Mallorca has drawn a positive conclusion from this year’s holiday season. The hotels in the area in the south of the Spanish Mediterranean island, which is particularly popular with German tourists, were on average almost 87 percent full, the association said.

“This is a very good value and is similar to the years before the corona pandemic,” said association president Pedro Marín.

With 59 percent of all tourists who visited the Playa, Germans once again made up the lion’s share, it was said. What is noticeable, Marín emphasized, is that the season is getting longer and longer. “The high season used to run from the beginning of May to the end of October. This year, holidaymakers were there in droves in April,” he noted. There is now talk of “seven months of peak season”.

The Playa de Palma Hoteliers Association includes 114 companies. That’s around 95 percent of all hotels in the area.
