A 57-year-old homeless man died after a robbery in Darmstadt. The man died from his injuries in hospital on Thursday evening, police and prosecutors said. A 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody after the crime on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery.
According to the report, he is said to have attacked the 57-year-old in a waiting room with his 18-year-old brother on Wednesday night and stole his wallet. Afterwards, at least the 15-year-old is said to have critically injured the homeless man with numerous punches and kicks.
The 18-year-old was released after the crime. His involvement in the fatal attack could not be proven with the necessary certainty, according to the statement. The police and public prosecutor’s office are investigating, among other things, the background and involvement in the crime. The two young people initially made no statements to the investigators, it was said.
