The city magazine “Time Out” has named Berlin-Neukölln as one of the coolest districts in the world. “Once a small village on the outskirts of Berlin, Neukölln is now by far the most exciting district in the city,” wrote the authors of the London-published online magazine. From restaurants to clubs, exhibitions and walking opportunities, Neukölln offers everything, it said.
Between family-run grocery stores and good cafés, Neukölln shows the “multicultural feeling” that characterizes the district. “Neukölln celebrates these differences and also fights for them: protests and demonstrations often take place in front of the Neukölln town hall or on Hermannplatz.”
The magazine’s list includes a total of 40 neighborhoods in different countries around the world. Included are neighborhoods in the USA, the UK, Japan, Ghana and many more. Neukölln is the only German district mentioned.
