The bailiffs in North Rhine-Westphalia are to be equipped with protective vests this year. This was announced by State Justice Minister Benjamin Limbach (Greens). Accordingly, irritant spray devices are also purchased for self-defense.
WDR had previously reported on the plans. According to Limbach, the protective vests should have been there long ago. But there were delivery problems.
Frank Neuhaus, head of the North Rhine-Westphalia Association of Bailiffs, told the German Press Agency: “The aggressiveness of our enforcement actions is constantly increasing. For example, the problem clearances of so-called Reich citizens are constantly increasing.” His association has been demanding the provision of protective vests since 2017.
