National coach Hansi Flick gave Werder Bremen’s striker Niclas Füllkrug hope of participating in the World Cup.

“I saw him yesterday. What he’s doing makes sense. We still have a little time. He’s on the move, he’s doing well. (…) He has certain qualities that we don’t have in form have,” said Flick to the Sky TV channel on the sidelines of the top game between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich.

When Bremen made it 2-1 in Hoffenheim, Füllkrug was once again the match winner with his late winning goal and an assist for a 1-0 lead. Füllkrug has already scored eight goals this season and thus played a key role in the strong start of the Hanseatic League.

Flick also keeps an eye on 2014 world champion Mats Hummels. “Mats and I are in exchange. What we say stays between us. He’s in very good shape this season. You can see he’s fit. I’m pleased that he’s at a very good level,” stressed Flick.
