Knowledge is power – and that’s why we don’t want to withhold our podcast “NEON Useless Knowledge” from you. Lars Paulsen and Ivy Haase know a lot – or at least they are pretty good at reading the real useless knowledge facts. With the podcast you are prepared for every tricky job interview, the next unpleasant small talk and also the upcoming visit to the in-laws.
The new episode “NEON Useless Knowledge” begins a bit sadly: Ivy says that although she is actually a big fan of indoor plants, they regularly die off: “Only two leaves are left on a plant.” – What is she doing wrong?
Maybe it’s due to the fact that she misunderstood the instruction “put in the partial shade” for a long time – spoiler: half the day in full sun and half the day in total shade is not meant, as Ivy found out .
Lars and Ivy also discuss whether a green thumb might just be innate – or maybe they just didn’t think enough about the needs of their dead plants beforehand?
Houseplants are not only very similar to us humans when it comes to jet lag: They can also get sunburn, have a fever when they are sick and even talk to each other – Ivy and Lars of course reveal how it works and are totally blown away by the wonder of houseplants: plants are Really “Fucking Awesome”, “the more you deal with it, the more urgently you have to stop it, because otherwise you’ll go crazy”, Lars marvels.
They also talk about trend plants and which ones they like and which ones they don’t. Lars reveals which plants he thinks “look like people in sweatpants and with stains on their undershirts” when they’re not feeling well.
In the end, they disagree: Lars thinks a certain trend plant is really great, which Ivy thinks is “the epitome of stuffy Germany” for her and she hates it – which plant do you think it’s about?
