A sauna in the attic of a hotel caught fire in downtown Düsseldorf. As a fire department spokesman said early Thursday morning, the fire quickly spread through the wood in the sauna. The fire also spread to the roof. “When the first emergency services approached the building, meter-wide flames could already be seen from the top floor of the building,” said the spokesman.

The fire brigade evacuated the twelve-story hotel, which housed around 60 people. The fire did not spread to other parts of the hotel or to adjacent buildings. According to the information, no one was injured. People could return to other parts of the hotel. How it came to the outbreak and how high the damage is, was initially unclear. According to the spokesman, the fire brigade was on site with 80 emergency services.
