Officially, the start of winter is still more than three weeks in the future – but the weather is already quite wintry. This Friday and also at the weekend there will be temperatures all over Germany that will make you shiver and shiver. They vary from temperatures just above freezing to single-digit temperatures below zero. It’s raining, hailing and snowing.

Large differences in air pressure between a low pressure area in northeastern Europe and Scandinavia and a high from the Bay of Biscay over Ireland and Iceland are also the reason for strong winds that can be hurricane-like in parts of Europe. Strong winds are expected, especially on the North Sea, as the “Wetter.de” portal reports.

The overview below shows the expected types of precipitation for today. It is provided by the portal Wetter.de, which, like stern, belongs to RTL Deutschland. By clicking on the graphic you can go to the provider and request further details.

According to forecasts, cooler temperatures are expected in the east of Germany in the coming days than in the west. Snow is expected in the Ore Mountains and the Alps on Saturday. Meteorologists predict that there may also be snow at lower altitudes until Sunday. Gray, cold and wet weather prevails across the country. Only in the northeast is there a chance of a few dry and sunny moments.

The German Weather Service (DWD), among others, is expecting regionally deep wintry conditions and snow in many regions this weekend. The weather experts from Offenbach are sure about the situation this coming weekend: “Winter is coming to Germany!” they write. They expect the highest temperature in Germany to be around seven degrees in some areas.
