The corona incidence in Schleswig-Holstein is still well below the value a week earlier. On Wednesday, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week was 298.4, according to data from the state registration office (as of 6:51 p.m.). Exactly one week earlier, the incidence was 451.8. 2566 new infections were reported – a little more than exactly a week earlier.

However, the number of new infections registered and thus the corona incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for a long time that there has been a high number of unrecorded cases – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

577 patients were treated with a corona infection in a clinic on Wednesday. A week earlier there were 660. There were 34 patients in intensive care units – seven days earlier there were 44. The hospitalization incidence was 7.02 – significantly lower than a week earlier (12.59). The value indicates how many patients per 100,000 inhabitants were admitted to hospitals with a corona infection within a week.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3033 people in Schleswig-Holstein have died in connection with a corona infection. This has added 9 deaths since Tuesday.

The highest corona incidences were reported in Lübeck (380.5), Flensburg (363.3) and Dithmarschen (356.8); the lowest again in Stormarn (187.9).
