“Station 19”, also known in this country as “Seattle Firefighters – The Young Heroes”, is coming to an end. The spin-off of the successful hospital series “Grey’s Anatomy” is ending after seven seasons, as “Deadline” reports. The decision is said to have been made at the start of production on the season, ensuring a fitting ending for the drama series. In the final season, the series about the employees of the “Station 19” fire station will reach the 100 episode mark. 95 episodes have been shown so far and the seventh season will consist of ten episodes. The series has repeatedly offered crossover episodes with “Grey’s Anatomy” in recent seasons.
“Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes (53) reported the end of the series in an Instagram post. “We are grateful for an unforgettable time,” wrote the executive producer of “Station 19” alongside a picture of the actors and actresses in firefighter uniforms, including Jason George (51), Gray Damon (36) and Jaina Lee Ortiz (37).
Rhimes added: “A heartfelt thank you to the extraordinary cast whose brilliance brought the characters to life, and to the viewers who made it possible! Thank you for the magic, the moments and the memories.”
“Station 19” director Peter Paige (54) has also already spoken out about the cancellation. He wrote on The Fosters have been my home and my family for more than a decade.” The drama series “Good Trouble” as a spin-off of the series “The Fosters” ends after season five on Freeform.
