Admittedly, I often get annoyed about the train. And I have plenty of reason: My professional and private travel routine is characterized by canceled trains, delayed departures and missed connections. An inner voice tells me more and more often: Better take the car if you want to get to your destination on time and without stress! And then I take the car and have a bad conscience, even though I almost always drive with 100 percent green electricity.
Why the concern? Because the railway is said to be unbeatably environmentally friendly. But is that really true? Is the ecological comparison between the means of transport so clear?
